My grade school always hosted a chili supper as its fall fund-raiser, and so come colder weather, chili is the dish I start longing for. This version is great because it's ready in 30 minutes—perfect for a quick weeknight meal. There are lots of chili recipes out there, each with a secret ingredient that makes it shine: Here, chipotle chiles in adobo (found in the Mexican section of the supermarket) provide some smoky spice. Cheddar cheese is a great garnish, but I also put sour cream, chopped scallions, and corn chips on the table, so everyone can add their favorite topper.
What is your favorite chili's secret ingredient?

Some friends of mine set out rice as an add-in for their chili feed and it was delicious!

I like to add a big spoonful of cocoa powder to my chili. It might sound odd, but it makes the chili smooth and silky.

I just made this for dinner tonight and it turned out great! I highly recommend it. Also, the cornbread they suggest with this chili was so good - super moist and great flavor. I left out the actual corn kernals and it turned out delicious.

When I make Chili I always add B&B sliced pickles. Gives a nice extra crunch!

I like my chili extra chunky with a bit of crunch as well. Celery always helps give it a bit more body, but the pickles Ahna suggested sound delicious aswell.
